Stablecoin subscriptions

Recurring payments in USD stablecoins through a hosted link: what buyers approve and how renewals, failed payments and cancellations work.

Crypto payments usually require the wallet owner to approve each transaction. For subscriptions, 402.shop uses Tempo's access keys: the buyer approves recurring payments once, and renewals need no further approval.

Setting one up

Choose a billing interval: every day, every week, or every few days or weeks. A recurring price is at least $1.00 per period. Publish it and share its checkout link like any other.

What the buyer approves

At checkout the buyer authorizes an access key with a spending limit for each billing period. It can only pay you and 402.shop, up to the subscription price. The first payment is taken immediately.

Renewals

At the end of each billing period, 402.shop takes the next payment. You receive 95% directly in your wallet and 402.shop receives 5% in the same transaction. 402.shop covers the network fee. Each successful renewal extends the buyer's access for another period.

When a payment fails

Failed renewals are retried, for example if the wallet has insufficient funds. You can set a grace period of up to 30 days. Buyers keep access during that time and lose it if payment still fails. If an outage prevents renewals, billing resumes with the current period; missed periods are not charged.

Cancelling

Buyers can cancel from Purchases on 402.shop and keep access until the end of their paid period. If you sell from your own app, use one API call to end a subscription when a customer cancels in your app.

What it costs

5% of each subscription payment, with no additional platform or network fees.

One limit to know

Subscriptions are bought in the browser for now. AI agents can make one-time purchases through the API, but cannot subscribe yet.
